Here is how to hang a Hammock swing from house rafters:
Delete1- Find a joist in the ceiling with a stud finder in the spot where the swing chair will be hung. A joist can also be found by tapping the ceiling softly with a hammer until you hear a solid, instead of hollow, sound. If using the tapping method to find a joist, tap a little finishing nail into the ceiling to find both ends of the joist. Tag the location for the ends of the joist with a pencil.
2- Calculate the width of the joist and split by two to find the middle of the joist. Make a pencil mark at the center of the joist for the hook place.
Drill a hole into the middle of the joist at the mark using a 1/8-inch drill bit.
3- Place a large ceiling hook into the predrilled hole and turn clockwise. When the hook is too firm to turn by hand, put a screwdriver width wise in the hook and use the leverage of the screwdriver to turn the hook until all the threads are hidden in the joist.
4- Hang the swing chair on the hook, using carabiners or quick links for fast, sturdy connections. Change the height of the chair from the floor by varying the length of a pretty chain or rope between the ceiling hook and the chair.
